Access to the app

Medly is a full-service pharmacy that delivers prescriptions and offers savings, advice, and customer support to keep patients on track.

The existing app suffered from poor usability, performance issues, and a lack of focus due to numerous disparate features and experiments. As a result, our internal teams faced heavy operational overhead, and patients struggled to perform basic tasks, leading to manual solutions.

Project Goals

• Create a new app design with delightful and seamless user experience
• Increase the activation rate

• Improve the communication efficiency between the pharmacy and patinets
• Increase NPS score

Specialty patients have shown a desire to use our app more actively for their prescriptions.

In the beginning, we didn’t have a clear pictures of how our users look like. Based a survey with 30 participants and 12 user interviews, the specialty patients became our targeting users since they will engage with the app more often for the maintenance medications.

Stuck in the Activation Flow

Optimize the sign-up experience

• Verify the patients' Zipcode before creating an account, to make sure their address is within our delivery zone.

• Allow users save the Medly info to their Apple Wallet, so they could show the info to their doctor anywhere, anytime.

• Let users be able to transfer their prescription to Medly within the app.

• Allow users select multiple way to add insurance info which is required to see the medication price.

Verify insurance early

After transferring prescriptions successfully, they will see their medications on the home screeen. For the users who skipped entering their insurance info, they will see a request from Medly. Users will see the estimated copay amount and checkout after they submitting the required info.

I designed the app to allow patients, especially for whom might have more than 10 maintenance medications, to be able to easily filter and customize the meds list as what they want on the home page.

Patients could double check the medication details including quantity and price before add it to the cart. Turn on Auto-refill will let users receive future refills delivered automatically.

Simplify checkout process

I designed as minimum steps as possible to let users place the order quickly. The patients could switch in between the different addresses or payment cards they saved before. After they place the order, they could find out what delivery time should be expected and download the receipt if they need.
